SEPTAR (Special Education PTA of Redwood City) was formed on January 25, 2007 as the first district-wide special education PTA in the Redwood City School District (RCSD).
Our goals are to:
–Help families better understand and work with the RCSD Special Education department.
–Work with general and special education teachers, families, and students to help our kids successfully participate in all aspects of education.
–Provide emotional support for parents through support groups.
–Hold social events to bring our families and children together.
–Participate in creating a Special Education department that attracts and retains top-quality staff who feel well prepared and supported.
–Connect to other community groups involved in regular and special education.
–Raise funds to support our goals.
Membership is open to anyone with an interest in children with special education needs. Membership dues are $10 for an individual and $15 for a family. Membership scholarships are available. You can download a membership form by clicking on this link: Membership Form1.pdf.
Meetings are held regularly and are open to the public. Child care and English/Spanish translation are provided. Meetings focus on specific topics related to parenting and education, and often feature a guest speaker.
